Miami urologist Dr. Fernando J. Bianco says: “I am a urologic surgeon who specializes in surgery for men and women with cancers of the genitourinary system. My care mission is clear: empower patients to understand their illness and likely impact in their quantity and quality of life. I tailor the treatment to the individual characteristics. To this end, as a scholar at Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center, I contributed to the design of powerful tools - Nomograms - that estimate this individual risk”

We take a comprehensive approach to diagnosis and treatment. Starting with a thorough patient evaluation designed to identify whether the cancer is localized or has spread to distant organs. We then define treatment goals based on the characteristics of the cancer itself, prior treatments that the patient may or may not have received, and his priorities regarding quality-of-life issues. In cases where cure is possible, treatment is designed to maximize success with the fewest possible side effects. In more advanced cases, several approaches-treatment modalities may be combined to ensure the best possible outcome.  Losing hope is not an option.

Miami urologist and the Chief of Robotic Surgery for the Columbia University Division of Urology at Mt Sinai Medical Center, Dr Bianco has directed his efforts towards surgery accountability. Our prostate program expertise is in prevention, early detection, prognosis, and treatment of men with prostate cancer. As a surgeon, I specialize in nerve-sparing radical prostatectomy for the treatment of prostate cancer, performed robotically or traditionally open retropubically, if indicated. We aim to provide the operation that best fits the cancer harbored by our patients. Indeed, clinical health outcomes research aspect of our prostate program is focused on improving outcomes: controlling the cancer while preserving urinary continence and sexual function - described by us in the literature as TRIFECTA.
